We collaborated closely with industry experts, clinicians, and pediatric care providers to understand their unique requirements for a pediatric IO access simulation trainer, prototyping and incorporating feedback as we advanced the model’s development. The resulting trainer, molded from a 3-year-old’s leg, features dual-sided, anatomically correct bones with tactile landmarks, bumps, and ridges, along with lifelike, replaceable skin and a palpable knee cap. While other models on the market have replaceable bones, few deliver the true-to-life appearance and tactile experience of Penny’s. With Penny Pediatric, users can practice essential procedures such as fluid aspiration and site flushing with unparalleled accuracy and realism.
